Supportive Therapies at About Life Chiropractic

Therapies That Work Alongside Your Care

Sometimes adjustments alone aren’t enough. When muscles, joints, or soft tissues need additional support, we use targeted therapies to help your body respond more effectively to care. Each option is brief, specific, and and integrated into your overall plan. Our approach is always precise, low-force, and based on what your body needs.

Dry Needling

Dry needling targets tight, irritated muscle areas often referred to as trigger points. Using a very thin needle, we apply a precise stimulus to help the muscle release tension and reset. This can be helpful when areas of tightness are not responding fully to adjustments alone. Sessions are brief and typically last about 10 minutes.

When We Use It

  • persistent muscle tightness
  • tension in areas like the shoulders or hips
  • support alongside chiropractic care

Dry Needling FAQ

Does it hurt?

Most patients feel a quick sensation followed by a release in the muscle. It is generally well tolerated.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies, but many patients begin to notice changes within a few visits.

Is it the same as acupuncture?

No. While similar needles are used, dry needling targets specific muscle trigger points rather than traditional acupuncture pathways.

Soft Tissue Therapy

We use targeted techniques to address tight or restricted muscles and connective tissue. This may include sound-assisted therapy and instrument-assisted soft tissue work (scraping). These approaches help improve how tissues move and respond. Sessions typically last 5-10 minutes and are added based on your needs.

When We Use It

  • areas of stiffness or restriction
  • movement limitations
  • support for recovery

Soft Tissue Therapy FAQ

What does it feel like?

You may feel pressure or movement over the tissue. Some areas may be more sensitive, but care is always adjusted to your tolerance.

Will I be sore afterward?

Some mild soreness can occur as the tissue responds, similar to after exercise.

How is this different from massage?

These techniques are more targeted and focused on specific areas of restriction rather than full-body relaxation.

Therapeutic Ultrasound

Ultrasound uses sound waves to deliver energy to tissues below the surface. This helps support circulation and tissue response in areas that may be difficult to reach with hands-on care alone. Sessions are brief (about 8 minutes) and feel warm and steady.

When We Use It

  • deeper joint or tissue irritation
  • areas like shoulders, feet, or hands
  • when additional support is needed beyond manual work

Ultrasound FAQ

What does it feel like?

Most patients feel a gentle warmth during the session.

Is it safe?

Yes. It’s a commonly used therapy and is applied in a controlled, targeted way.

How quickly does it work?

Some patients notice gradual improvement over a series of visits.

Electrical Stimulation (E-Stim)

E-stim uses mild electrical pulses to help muscles relax and reduce tension. Pads are placed on the skin, delivering rhythmic signals that help interrupt cycles of tightness. Sessions typically last about 10 minutes.

When We Use It

  • acute muscle tightness
  • tension in the back, neck, or shoulders
  • as support alongside adjustments

E-Stim FAQ

What does it feel like?

A light pulsing or tapping sensation.

Is it uncomfortable?

No. Intensity is adjusted to your comfort level.

Can it be combined with other therapies?

Yes. It is often used alongside adjustments or other modalities.

Care That Adapts to What You Need

Not every patient needs every therapy. We recommend these options only when they add value to your care and help your body respond more effectively. If you’re unsure what’s right for you, we’ll walk through it together.
